A new and exciting role has just opened up in the financial inclusion team for a Welfare Benefit/Universal Credit Advisor. The Welfare Benefits Advisor will use their knowledge and experience to provide initial advice about universal credit, provide other welfare benefits advice and assist in sustaining tenancies. A good understanding of the Welfare Reform Act and a person centred approach are essential.
Homes for Haringey are an organisation with an exciting future. We want to deliver nothing less than excellent services to our customers. Work has already begun on an investment programme that will kick-start the transformation of 21,000 homes across this diverse north London borough.
Welfare Benefits Advisors will play a pivotal role in preparing tenants for Universal Credit and assisting and advising them as they make a claim. This is a new team who will work together in delivering an integrated yet flexible advice and support service aimed at helping residents retain their tenancies. To be a good fit to this role you will be proactive, collaborative with a results-driven approach. We are looking for applicants with excellent relationship building skills and sensitivity to the needs of others. You will also need good knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, universal credit, legislation, policies and issues relating to income maximisation and debt prevention, with the ability to lead change.

This is a 6 months fixed term role and you will be required to work 36 hours per week.
